Disk Boot Failure

Postby wizzard on Thu Jun 28, 2007 7:04 pm

Hello all I have been on Linux from Windows for 3 months now & don't know a heck of a lot (do know it's better)

Upon booting I keep getting the Boot Disk Failure message & I have to hit DEL & go into the BIOS settings there I got to the boot device priority, I don't have to change anything & just saving & closing will then enable Bianca to boot.

I was going to do a fsck but this can be bad on a filesystem that is mounted
read-write. I am not sure how Mint is mounted & this looks like a boot sector issue so fsck could not be the solution.

Any ideas would be appreciated

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I booted up in the Live CD mode & this seems to have fixed things for now. I am unsure what exactly this changed but seems to be sorted.
