[Solved] Mint 8 : Boot problem, no system disk

disk "root" or disk "boot" failure?.this seems to be a bios message not a grub message.

I checked the partitions with Gparted and the /boot partition was not set as 'boot' in the flags

Linux boot partiotions don't need to be labeled "boot" to be valid.
i'd suggest you reinstall GRUB.

If I delete the boot partition, will the mbr be revoked to boot Windows only without any boot manager?

if you delete the Linux partition to use windows only,you need to reinstall the windows mbr,depending on the version of windows you are using,the steps will differ.
