disk "root" or disk "boot" failure?.this seems to be a bios message not a grub message.

Linux boot partiotions don't need to be labeled "boot" to be valid.
i'd suggest you reinstall GRUB.

if you delete the Linux partition to use windows only,you need to reinstall the windows mbr,depending on the version of windows you are using,the steps will differ.
