Mint 8 64 bit installation crashing

Post by havok1977 »

Hello,

Im trying to install Mint 8 64 bit in my laptop alonside a few other OS that im running... Im designating a dedicated extended partition for it and mounting my home partition to keep things equal among all distros installed.

It all runs smoothly during the install until the very end - it just throws and error message about crashing, gives a lot of info abut some python scripts that failed and thats it.. nothing else can be done but abort. Ive tried this booting both from CD and USB stick.

Has anyone else run into this? How can i solve this? Hlep will be appreciated...

Welcome to Mint
No good start sorry about that
What about posting the error message(s)? Or are they just in the installer?
The live CD works all the time so it is possible to take a screenshot
It can be a bad CD - did you check the md5sum and burned slowly?
Is this before grub is installed? You would see a text telling you grub is being installed
