29 Bad sectors

Postby mzsade on Sat Feb 06, 2010 11:01 pm

Hi, that's what the disk utility shows; I did a long test with "Seagate tools for DOS" and it passed. Safe to say then that the bad sectors are logical, not physical. Tried "sudo fsck -pcfv /dev/sda" (tip from somewhere) with a live CD but got a 'entire device is otherwise engaged' or some such thing. Could someone please suggest a proper command line?

Did you unmount every partition before running fsck?

By default all partitions are mounted on boot when using a live cd...
