[Fixed] Dual boot multiple hard drives

Postby goatgonads on Thu Feb 11, 2010 12:32 am

I have tried every guide out there with no luck. I am trying to run mint on one hard drive and W7 on another with grub asking which to boot. I have yet to be able to get grub to show windows 7 at the boot menu. Any suggestions?

could you download and run the boot info script and post the generated RESULTS.txt?

I think there is something unintended going on. I did not install as a raid. Two of the drives were from a previous raid array, but have been formatted since, and the motherboard settings have been reverted. I am not sure if that is an issue or not.

try removing the raid superblocks:
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install mdadm
sudo mdadm --zero-superblock /dev/sdb1
sudo mdadm --zero-superblock /dev/sdc1

That seemed to get rid of the raid errors that I was seeing, so I found the following:

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install os-prober
sudo os-prober
sudo mv /boot/grub/device.map /boot/grub/device.map.bak
sudo update-grub (came back clean)
reboot (all is well)

Fixed! Thanks for the hand, and fast response.
