Questions about Grub, UEFI,the liveCD and the installer
Before you post please read this
I have a friend who wants to try linux so I say what about Mint? Well he wants to play around with it so of course im burning him a fresh copy of the iso. While that was happening I wondered what could the liveCD do compared to full installation? Can the liveCD install programs on the free space of the CD itself? What else can it do?

ALL you can doo with the live CD is run what's there. No capability to install to or update the OS on the CD. You might be able to install some things to the live desktop but you would lose them when you shutdown.
The Cd (if it is Mint 8 Main ED) carries 688 Mb of data on device with a 700 Mb capacity so there is not much room to install anything else
