Installation Stuck at Partitions Formatting

Postby maduranga on Thu Aug 02, 2007 2:04 am

Hello.. I have downloaded and burned the Cassandra CD image to a cd and the live system is working perfectly. But when i try to install Cassandra to the hard disk, in the installation wizard it at the Partitions Formatting the installation seems getting stuck. although the wizard is still responding, but it seems nothing happening. pls someone tell me how to overcome this problem and get tthe Cassandra installed on my pc.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

what are you choosing to do with the partition section?
and how far are you getting in it before it goes to lala land?

what happens if you open gparted while running live?
mintmenu-->administration--> gparted

do you see the hard disk and partitions?

what are your computer specifications?

:D

I have two hard disks and the 80GB contains ubunttu and the 160GB contains XP. I have selected the Guided Partitioning to use the entire disk, 80GB. And after the wizard begins the installation at the 5% of partition formatting, it sops working.

When i run the GNOME Partition Editor, after a very long time, it shows partitions.

Computer specs:

3.00 Gig processor
128 MB GeForce 5200
Two hard disks - 160GB with windows and 80GB with Ubuntu installed.
512MB of RAM

GParted does seem to be a pretty slow and awkward partitioning tool. A graphical layout would be lovely too!
