Grub not loading

Post by hollingwood »

Hello
I have Linux mint 8 KDE which has been working well until today. Suddenly I am getting an error message when
booting up - Screen says "Grub loading" then "no module name found" then "aborted".

I can boot up the using supergrub2 disk and this leads on to read the normal grub menu on the hard disk, and
the system works as normal. However i dont see how to repair the grub menu so that i can boot from the hard disk as
normal, and I can only boot using the supergrub2 Cd.
Any help would be very much appreciated thank you

Can you go to Administration | Log file viewer and look through the grub boot log to identify what it was trying to load.

Re: Grub not loading (Solved)

Hi
I finally solved it!! and everything is back to normal booting from hard disk.
Something must have gone wrong with grub/mbr and I solved it by reinstalling grub by going to terminal
and su root and using "grub-install /dev/sda" that did the trick.
