mint8 fresh install won't finish booting (SOLVED)
just did a fresh install of both mint 8 x64 and x86. Both installs hang at text login screen (never gets to graphical login) with blinking screen. cannot use keyboard to login as key strokes are intermittent with blinking screen. Boot from usb stick works fine for both archs. Don't understand the blinking screen thing.

found this at the ubuntu forums:
Open /etc/X11/xorg.conf and in the display section change the driver from nvidia to nv. oiula. graphical login.
I used the mint8 live usb stick to access the native / partition with the file browser. Once in /etc I right clicked in the window and chose "open as root". A new browser window opened. I then navigated to X11/xor.conf and opened it with gedit. Made the necessary change and saved the file. Rebooted with no problem.
