Dual boot: Windows XP / Parsix 3 (Kev)
Partitions:
16 GB FAT --- Windows main partition (drive C:)
24 GB ext3 --- Parsix GNU\Linux
1.1 GB swap --- for Parsix
104 GB FAT --- personal data
another 104 GB FAT --- personal data
There was no problem in using them (were mounting and working correctly); except that Gparted (in my installed
Parsix) was showing my whole hard disk as unallocated space! Result in Gparted of Parsix live and even Mint 9 live
disk was also the same.
Mint 9 installation tells me that there's no Linux installed on my PC; seems that's based on Gparted and I should make
my hard disk ready for mint installation, using Gparted. Of course I can't!
I needed to reinstall my Windows for some reason. I used a Windows bootable disc to format the windows partition
(C:) and install Windows in it again.
It changed the boot. Now only Windows boots up and I have no option to select Parsix.
Gparted, still the same.
But due to some ppls advices, also tested 'palimpsest' and 'TestDisk' on my harddisk while I was in Mint 9 Live.

By 'Palimpsest':
Look at this screenshot: http://pic0.picsorlinks.com/ph_or_29417_2e9d8d1.png
About the 16 GB FAT (Windows) it says:
Usage: Filesystem
Partition type: W95 FAT32 (LBA) (0x0c)
Partition Flags: Bootable
Type: FAT (32-bit version)
About 234 GB Extended:
Usage: Container for logical partitions
partition type: Extended (0x05)
partition flag:-
partition label:-
About the Swap:
Usage: Swap space
Partition Type: Unknown()
Both of 104 GB FATs:
Usage: File system
Partition Type: Unknown()
Type: FAT (32-bit version)
About the "Free 104 GB" (I don't know what's that! My hard disk storage is 250 GB):
Usage: File system
Partition Type: Unknown()
Type: FAT (32-bit version)
In palimpsest, all of 'Extended's have 'Delete Partition' button;
all of "unallocated"s have 'Create partition' button;
for the rest, after unmounting and clicking "Check filesystem", it says "Filesystem is clean".

1) Are my partitions OK? If they don't, what's the problem and what's the reason? and how to solve it?
2) If I delete and recreate the 24GB ext3 and 1.1 GB Swap, would it be OK for mint installation? or due to current
problem of Gparted, Mint installation still would be a problem?

Re: Only Gparted wrongly shows my harddisk space as unalloca
An older GParted may works better? There is some bug in the new versions whose have caused tears and angry feelings..
If sudo fdisk -l comman shows the partitions, there is no trouble. If not, you can try to use a fdisk-program following way.
It is funny, but it works often..
