LinuxMint 3.1 Celena Parititioning Problem

Postby Harley51 on Wed Sep 26, 2007 7:56 pm

If I use part magic 1.7 or Partitioning tool on LinuxMinut and I get the same results. I want to setup a partition for linux mint and the error message I get when I manuely partition is. The ext3 file system creation in partition #18 of SCSI1(0,1,0) (sdb) failed. Has anyone seen this before.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Which was the tool you used the last time you partitioned the disk successfully.

So you only have Windows now?
If so delete the partition you just created and then opt to install in "The largest free space" Not sure if that's the exact words, but near enough

Are they all primary partitions? There is a maximum of 4 primary partitions allowed on a hard drive. If you are trying to create a 5th primary partition it will fail. If you want more than 4 partitions you need to define an extended partition and create more logical volumes inside of that.

Actually, you should do that for anything more than 2 partitions.
