Drive One - Win7 / Drive Two - Mint SOLVED

Hey all,

I'm having an issue trying to install Mint on my PC. I have two hd's installed.

One with Win 7 on it and the other is completely blank (fresh format).

I pop the LiveDVD in my computer and reboot.

Mint loads up fine, however when I go to install, step four only shows 1 hd. (the one with the windows install on it)

What I'd like to do is "Erase and use entire disk" and then choose my empty disk, but it doesn't appear in the drop down.

I'm fairly new to Linux and any help in the right direction would be helpful. I've done a ton of searching but nothing comes up (that I've found with this same problem)

Thanks.

I am not sure if this could help but I'd rather run Mint from CD first.
Then run gparted app and there I'd prepare the new disk, like format at least and mount it.
After mounting it in gparted, start the install process.

But still wonder that new hdd si not visible in your new installation.
How is the hdd connected? Raid ?

Just in case there is a problem with jumpers or something else which causes your blank drive to not be sensed properly, here are a couple things to check:

1) Check that your BIOS is set up and senses both drives, then
2) Disconnect power and data cables from the Windows 7 drive, leaving the blank drive connected, then reboot with the Mint disk and see if it can see the drive.

While in the LiveDVD -> clicking on 'Computer'

Mint shows both hd's.

The 2nd drive is just not an option to install to when I go through the installer.

Edited for more information:

Just shutdown, disconnected the 'win 7' drive. Booted back up into LiveDVD.

Newly formatted drive still shows up in 'Computer' but when I go to install and get to the 4th step it shows no hd at all.

So I have since, shut down yet again and plugged in both drives again. Still only showing win 7 drive as an option to install to.
