Installing mint without affecting the grub

Postby Pisycho on Sat Oct 23, 2010 11:24 am

So I'm on my dad's laptop and he wont allow me to install mint on an external hard drive because it'd ruin his grub. And he wont allow me to take his laptop
s hard drive out as I install mint.

So the question is how do I install mint without affecting his hard drive? He's using windows 7 and I'm using a 80gb external drive.

Thanks. Dan.

Manual partitioning (advanced) and installation without installing grub. Install LILO-bootloader afterwards to the external hard drive. ==>>

An example LILO-installation to hard drive sdb

sudo lilo -b /dev/sdb

Edit: You can boot Mint using this CD and install LILO afterwards .. :D
