Installing linux mint with windows 7 need help please

Hi im new to the linux side of operating systems (windows) is my mine os and i would like to switch to linux but im having a problem installing linux along side windows 7 on the same hard drive please could someone help me out and give me a 1 to 20 answers on how to install onto my hard drive and what i got to do like partitioning and so on please thanks from darrell thomas

If you have already at hand a Mint CD, boot it and then from the menu open a terminal and do

Code: Select all
sudo fdisk -l

That's a lower case L in fdisk -l

Post the result
Chances are windows has hogged all the allowed primary partitions.
