Hi,
I'm trying to install mint 10 into a blank box (no os installed yet). I put in the live DVD (64-bit), and come to the mint logo screen with the four dots. It cycles through them a while, but eventually freezes. I left it there overnight... it never reaches the desktop.
I tried compatibility mode, but I just get a blank screen, never even reached the logo screen.
I ran memcheck, and got no errors after 2 passes. I also have tried a Linux mint live CD, as well as an Ubuntu disk. Same problems.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Had the same problem with 32-bit version.
Try to boot with kernel options "pci=nomsi, noaer"

How do I do this? I tired hitting tab to edit boot options, and added this both before and after the --rebintus wrote:Had the same problem with 32-bit version.

I tried removing the options "splash" and "quiet", and I get a bunch of errors like:
It eventually says[ 12.551340] SQUASHFS error: Unable to read directory block [323deeaf:1d69]
"" "" " metadata cache entry [ 323deeaf]
Then it gives a call trace finally:Kernel panic -- not syncing: Attempted to kill init
