Hi,
It was holiday, so I take my chance to play... in XP. All of a sudden, when I try to boot Bianca, I got stuck when booting and the message was (something like):
Initialising GRUB stage 1.5
bla... bla...
Error 25
and Mint won't boot. When I try Explore2fs, it refuses to open the / partition (where /boot and everything but /home located). Oh, yeah. Here's some basic info. I uses Bianca, the disk is a 10 GB P-ATA (a 6-years old disk:)), separated into 2 partition, / (7GB), and /home (3 GB). Also there is an 80 GB S-ATA disk (containing Win XP).
When I first installed Bianca, I did not connect the 80 GB disk, and so did I when installing XP. Both OS was running smoothly until I couldn't access Bianca (but I still able to boot to XP). Could somebody help me? Thanks in advance.

Error 25 is "Disk read error"
However it does not necessary mean that your drive is gone - but do check it, there are several tools the manufacturers provide for that.
From what I understand you should repair grub. As you can't use Linux from disk right now boot the live CD and follow the instructions in the wiki
http://www.linuxmint.com/wiki/index.php ... _your_grub

[SOLVED] GRUB Error 25
Hi, finally I can 'steal' sometime to do some check. I did try LiveCD, and yes, it won't mount. Then I think it's because of the Bad Sector, so I did short test provided by seatools (some kind of HDD analyser, I think) and it agree with my opinion.
Then I did the long test, I left to sleep and it did not finish. Finally, yesterday morning, I did "Zero all tracks" (same with Low Level Formatting, I suppose). Now, I have a "Brand New" 10 GiB DIsk. I think I shall install Celena or Daryna on it later this week.
Thanks for everybody who responded this message, sorry if I bothered all of you. Now, probably I shall call this problem "SOLVED". Thanks.
