How to install Linux Mint in SW RAID?

Post by quad3datwork »

I have acquired few 160GB HDs recently. I'm wondering if anyone had done installing Linux Mint in SW RAID without issues?

If I'm not mistaken, can I just mdadm the drives in live CD and fire off the installer? Assume the install goes fine, would the proper kernel modules be enabled already in installed kernel?

So no one ever had the desire nor need to install LM in soft RAID before?!? I am surprised!

I just tried it on my home desktop with VirtualBox... created RAID-10 array... was all good till the part ask for timezone, and it crashed. It's kind of slow on my desktop and it's almost 1AM, not gonna hack at it all night long. I'm going to retry same thing at work tomorrow with ESXi server.

If someone did LM on soft RAID before, please let me know how it turned out! Thanks!
