Install Mint 10 alongside two other OS's, on 2 drives?

Post by taxpayer »

I already have XP and Mint 9 (Gnome) installed on Disk 1, and I want to preserve these while installing Mint 10 (KDE RC 64-bit) on Disk 2. I could not boot from the Live DVD but used unetbootin. According to the manual (page 14) I should get 3 options as to where to install: (1) alongside other OS's; (2) use the entire disk for Mint 10; (3) specify partitions manually.

The problem is that option (1) does not appear on the screen; only options (2) and (3). Further, the installer only shows me Disk 2, doesn't seem to know about Disk 1. So I could designate the partitions I want, but it is not clear how the installer will deal with grub (or whether it even sees grub). What should I do to be sure that I'll have all three boot options?

Hi!
Hi!
You could read through Seeley's "Quickly get help":

chapter III Grub.
Please post the output of "findGrub".
