Bad experience at startup

Postby despised_icon on Thu Nov 15, 2007 4:55 pm

Hi,

Running the Linux Mint live-cd doesn't seem to be the easiest thing to me ;)

I fixed the first error by disabling the hpet bios-feature, but the system is kind of frozen when i'm trying to boot..it freezes at "running local boot scripts". I know that this is a pretty well-known error and i read that you could solve the problem by pushing the enter button, but that doesn't work for me.

I'm sorry if the problem was already solved here, i used the search and didn't find anything...
As my english isn't really good, reading like 1000 topics would blow my mind :)

Any help would be really appreciated

edit: I tried to boot daryna beta...

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Welcome to Mint despised_icon
The first thing in my mind is a bad CD
Check the md5sum of the iso and burn it again slowly
If that does not help you have to tell us more about your computer

Hi, thanks for your answer.

The CD seems to be ok...
The same problem occurs with the Ubuntu 7.10 Live-CD and after an alternate install.

AMD Sempron 3400+
1024 MB DDR-Ram (can't remember the manufacturer, probably noname)
Radeon Xpress 1250
ASUS M2A-VM Motherboard

I hope that's enough information.

cheers

I have just had the same problem when I upgraded from Celena online. If it is a common problem is there a FAQ or HOWTO to help? Specifically the boot process crashes when trying to execute /etc/rc.local.

Does not ring a bell now (of course rc.local does but...)
Could you describe what happens better so there's a chance to see when it stops.
You could remove nosplash in the boot options behind F6
