login/ password for LiveCD

Postby maxtremist on Fri Nov 16, 2007 5:32 pm

Hi to everyone,

i have copied (dd) the mint_4.0-iso to a DVD-RAM to play around and install it.
I wanted to do this also with other Distrbutions to have an multiboot-livedvd, but thats for later.
Everything worked fine, also the startup till the loginscreen. but now i need a username and a password or a workaround
I think there is normaly no pass, if you start it from a burnt CD or have i missed something? .

thanks

Welcome to the Mint forums maxtremist !

I am not sure what you are asking for ?
Are you saying your Mint 4.0 Live CD is asking for a password ?? I just tried my Live CD and it does not ask for a user name or a password.

When you do a install to a hard drive it will ask you for one, I am not sure if there is a auto login without a password. If there is I am sure someone will be along shortly to explain it to you.

hi,
i just copied the image to an DVD-RAM, instead of burn it on a CD.
for this i used dd (disk dump) to get i bootable.
I couldnt install because the livesystem wants a login :(

EDIT: I formated the DVD-RAM and copied the image é voilà it starts without login. strang things happen
