I made a small mint partition yesterday, choosing along side my existing Ubuntu partition. The mint installer made my Ubuntu partition completely fubar. I can not get in, gnome does not work, and its all a mess. The Ubuntu partition is way bigger than the mint partition. Is there anyway I can rescue some of the elements from my ubuntu partition. Offcourse I can find the files, but I am thinking about browser, rss, bookmarks, passwords etc.
If not this can cost me several days work

If you can get to your .config folder and move it somewhere safe, you should be able to put it back into your system when you get it straightened out and have all of your old settings back. You will have to click "show hidden folders" to find it.
