Daryna Networking Issue - Help

Postby prit1 on Thu Nov 22, 2007 12:07 am

Hello,

I have been a Ubuntu user till Gutsy. Later I stopped using Ubuntu because I had network problems with Gutsy. I tried Linux Mint. I really loved the xfce desktop and the appearance and the user friendliness. I am planning to make this my main OS. But there is one issue. I am not able to make my network work. Maybe because Linux Mint 4.0 depends on Gutsy. I tried the below 2 posts - still networking does not work. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Prit

I have a Averatec 3200 system. My wifi card is something like ralink. Please let me know if you need some other information and also help me with commands to get that info.

I think the ralink wifi card is supported by the mintwifi app.
I think it uses ndiswrapper in order to use the windows driver under linux for it.
So are you using Daryna mint XFCE Beta?

Yes I am using XFCE version. I only have 512 MB ram. I felt XFCE is much faster in my machine. I dont know how to use MintWifi. Where is it located?

look in the menu for "Windows Wireless Drivers" and use this as it uses Ndiswrapper (and mint wifi i think).
this should get your wireless working.
I have not used it in ages so I'm a bit rusty.

I will check this soon. I uninstalled linux mint for now and I am using Xubuntu 6.06 - works perfect. Fast and smooth. Onething I liked about Linux mint is its compatibility with Ubuntu and ability to use the same repositories and the really good look. I will give this a try when I get a chance and post the results.
