SOLVED! unable to boot livecd - tried the recommended fixes

Trying to boot live cd on my desktop - I have Mint on my laptop. This is the daryna beta, want to try it before burning yet another cd.

Details - AMD sempron 3000; 1mb RAM; samsung sp1604n hdd; radeon 9250 video card (an ATI) - which I assume is the problem.

Have tried :
nosplash noapic noacpi which results in white arrow on black screen.
nosplash noapic noacpi -- which results in white arrow on black screen.
splash=0 which results in white arrow on black screen.
splash=0 noapic noacpi which results in white arrow on black screen.
splash=0 noapic noacpi-- which results in white arrow on black screen and a white rectangle which occupies the top left 1/6th of the screen
nosplash nolapic noacpi which results in a 'busybox' message then a series of 'lost interrupt' screens.

Is there a fix for this in the new daryna, do you think or is it my PC?

I have installed the Celena Mint on my laptop, it went on easily - no problem at all, but when I tried the same disc on my desktop it didn't like it. I have since tried Daryna and Ubuntu on the same PC and both experienced problems.

I get so far and hit a problem, sort that problem and am faced with a different one.

I put PCLinuxOS 2007 on successfully and then tried again to put Mint on (using a different option on the f6) but it hit the same error. When I tried UBuntu (like a berk) I made a user error and blew up my Windows and PCLinux installations. I am not experienced at GRUB and was unable to recover them. I reinstalled windows but am still looking for things to try to enable me to have Mint installed.

Further digging on forums and webpages makes me wonder if it is the motherboard - so I will be trying a known good motherboard this weekend.

To recap - I have not as yet installed Mint on my desktop,though each time I am sure this new solution will enable me to do so.

The motherboard in question is a Winfast NF3250K8AA, with a Sempron 3000 chip.

I have done a search for other incidents of problems but it comes up with no issues.

Strangely my graphics are playing up on the windows partition now, the 3d graphics seem to be causing crashes and I am in two minds about the cause of my problems. (that is a radeon 9250).

I had the same problem as caddi fuller.What i found was turning off anything to do with Power Management in the motherboard BIOS did it for me.I have a ECS RC410L/800M board.And it took a few minutes for Daryna to load.Hope this helps.

Though I think I may have alredy disabled all power management (you lose track of what you have done), I have nothing to lose by trying Jimint's solution, so I will give that a go after dinner.

Tomorrow I will be 'borrowing' a different motherboard from my son which has a PCI-express option for a spare graphics card (which is higher spec but may give me different problems!).

Hopefully either one of those fixes will work.

Please tell me that you are just about to go to bed or out somewhere or something equally benign. Otherwise I will be worrying about you or that my PC is about to self-destruct in 2 hours or something!

I did what you suggested and disabled all the power management features in my BIOS. I then had to experiment with the F6 options and the ones I eventually used were:
noapic
nolapic
noacpi
break=button

This seemed to solve the problem. Naturally I now have some others which I will post, but Daryna is now on my main PC. (Grub is not allowing me to select windows though windows is on the list, and my gnome daemon not installed corretly but these, I hope, are fixable.)

Now I need to find out if i can re-enable my power management thingies, and whether I need to anyway.
