Hey guys I'll come out first and say that I'm a new user to linux mint but I'm addicted for life. My wife loves mint so much that she asked me to install it on here netbook... I think great! Grab my boot disc and... wait, oh crap no disc drive. So after looking for hours on the web I wasn't able to find a clear way to install on a netbook via USB. I know I can boot from the USB but I get a disc error message everytime I try. I also know that I need to make the drive bootable, but the problem is again noob. I don't know how to make it bootable. So to it simply I need to:
1: Make the USB Bootable
2: Install via the USB to replace windows xp
3: Stop pulling my hair out trying to figure it out.
Any help you guys can give would be great and thanks!

Re: Installing on netbook via USB boot
You can use unetbootin to make the usb bootable, here is a tutorial: http://www.pendrivelinux.com/using-unet ... usb-linux/
Unetbootin is in the Software Manager.
Instalation is as from the CD/DVD.

Re: Installing on netbook via USB boot
This http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=30551 (see my reply, end of thread) has worked well for me in the past. I have done a dual boot install of Mint 7 on an netbook and a standard install of Mint 9 on a laptop using this technique and have had no problems.
Good luck...
