Remove Elive, add Mint and continue dual boot XP

Postby Beatnikboy on Tue Nov 27, 2007 11:57 am

I have a Compaq Evo laptop dual booting with Elive gem and XP (for kids games). I would like to swap Elive for Mint and not triple boot all three.
Could someone please explain the best way to go about this, without messing up booting of XP :?
I have 1 NTFS partiton, 2 ReiserFS partitions for Elive and Home and a 1gb Linux swap partition.
Thanks in advance

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Welcome to Mint Beatnikboy
You could just install Mint in the partition where Elive resides. Use the same user name and check that your UID is 1000 or you'll get problems with home.
You could remove the folders in home that does not contain your data

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it

Hello Husse,
Thanks for the welcome and advice.
The kids are in bed so I'll give it a go after just a quick surf :)
