STUCK:livecd installer gdm login

i just burned the linuxmint 4.0 live cd disc and inserted it my computer
once it did so my screen flickered a few times and brought me to the gdm login screen
<edit> just so i'm clear instead of getting to the desktop i'm stuck on the gdm login screen
but i cannot find a proper login to install this distro....

is this abnormal or should i continued digging for the u/p?
or even better, if there is a u/p what is it?

You are at the log in window, where you would write username and password when installed?
(i.e. the gdm login )
This is not supposed to happen with the live CD and is the result of a bad CD
Have you checked the md5sum of the ISO?
Have you burned slowly?
