GDM hangs my boot

I run the cd add some noacpi, noapic to the grub cmd line. The mint logo loads then kicks me to a black screen after it loads boot scripts. The screen flashes (gdm trying to start) and then im stuck there.
I alt f2 to a terminal and try to manually start gdm but to no avail. Anybody have options?

I suppose this is from the live CD?
Try "Safe graphics mode" as it seems that x won't start
Also did you check the md5sum and burn the CD slow?
