Can't boot (any) live CD on my notebook

Postby vando on Fri Dec 28, 2007 8:28 am

Hello all,

I've been using Linux for a few years already, so let's jump the very basic possibilities for my problem. I have a new notebook, and I couldn't boot any distro so far. I've tried Ubuntu 7.10, OpenSuse 10.3 and the last one was Daryna. I'm almost sure the problem is the wireless card.
My toy:
MB: Asus T12Ug
AMD Turion 64X2 TL-50 1,6Ghz
chipset AMD M690, AMD Hammer
VGA ATI Radeon X1200
Wireless 802.11 b/g USB Wireless LAN Module Atheros AR5007EG

I've tried the option nosplash noapic noacpi --, and the boot process stops just after a sequence of messages about ath_pci.
I've read about this chip working with madwifi driveres, but to try them or ndiswrapper I needed at least a complete boot.
:!: So my question is: is there a way I can boot it? Any other boot option, or something else that may help. Or is it a case of complete incompatibility?

I hope I gave enough information. Thanks

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

It could easily be the BIOS, as most of the time it just boots into the harddisk and not off the CD/DVD drive

Thanks for trying to help, but that's one exemple of what I meant whith 'very basic possibilities' on my first post. I'm able to boot the cd, but it freezes during the part of loading the drivers.

Happy new year everybody..
