Data Loss During Install

Post by klimi »

Hey there,
i just was pretty pissed off from windows vista, and i wanted to try linux mint as an alternative...
so i downloaded it , linux mint 11/ 32bit , and i ran it a while from the boot cd before i decided to install it.
It was pretty cool from live cd so i wanted to stick with it.
As most people I joined this board because i had a problem i could not handle alone...
On windows i had 2 partitions, one of them was defenetly ntfs, i dont care about the data on the 2nd

when i was installing it the installer told me he was formating my harddrive, and that was defenetly not what i ve expected...

i pressed abort and now all my data is gone...

right now i can just read and right files on the 2nd partition...
1st partition doesnt show up in *computer* .
i guess it would be possible to write a new partition list, thats how its called in german, i dont know if its the correct expression in english...
but how can i do that?

Greetings Daniel

i hope you aint pissed that i wrote my problem here too...
