Matt_Minton, I know of NO "gotchas" with Mint. I actually migrated from another linux distro (kde based) to Mint 4.0 and I assure you that you WILL NOT be disappointed with this distro! Welcome aboard!

Yes. During the install you will be asked if you want to format your partitions or not :)
