Daryna fresh install not booting...

Hi,

I already installed Mint on several computers and had always been satisfied. But I tried the new Daryna Main version, and it's not booting at all...

I installed it on a computer where Bianca was already working. The installation seemed to work well. I reformated the / partition where Bianca was installed, keeping the /home. But when I tried to boot the newly installed version, it hanged. I tried again with no splash screen, and saw some messages saying that it could not find sda (It found my partition table, but with sda in place of hda : I have IDE disks, not SATA or SCSI). I changed the /etc/fstab replacing it with the Bianca version that was working fine... Still not booting :(

Here is /var/log/boot :

Code: Select all

(Nothing has been logged yet.)
... and the end of /var/log/bootstrap.log :

Code: Select all

chage: the shadow password file is not present
/usr/bin/chage failed with return code 15, shadow not enabled, password aging cannot be set. Continuing.

If you want to update it now, run 'setupcon' from a virtual console.

And this is the last line logged.

Seems that nobody experienced problems with Daryna... What happens to me ? How can I get it working ?

Thanks...

I'm getting the feeling that you left all your .gome folders in your home directory before you installed Daryna, this can create problems as your session is trying to get your settings from your home folder. Either that, or did you change your user name?

Yes, I forgot that, but after I erased all the .files, I have still the same problem. Must I reinstall ? I didn't tried, as I don't think that it's important to not have these files during installation ?

No, I kept the same...

try to restore your original fstab now that you have those files removed, Bianca is using a completely dif kernel, this may be causing issues with the boot, also try to reinstall grub, if that doesn't work, try getting a supergrub disk and use that.

Hi,

Sorry to be so late to give news... very busy

Well, I installed daryna without any problem on another computer. I tried to reinstall the one not working, and now all works fine :D Probably, something wrong in the first install.

Thanks for your help ! :)
