[SOLVED] Ubiquity crash during installation

Post by desmond »

Hi,
I'm trying to install Linux Mint 11 on my system (AMD64 3000, 2GB RAM, 250 GB hard disk) but during partition phase (or during copy files) ubiquity freezes the system.
Same result with Ubuntu 10.04 and earlier.
I've no problem with other distributions that do not use Ubiquity.
How can I solve this?
Thankyou

p.s. I think this is the same bug.. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/587785

Is it just the installer that is frozen or the entire system? If just the installer you may be able to kill it and try again. In addition I can't recall if there is an option to update the installer before running it, if so you could try that, if not you could run a system update or download the ubiquity .debs for version 2.6.10-1mint2 from http://packages.linuxmint.com/list.php?release=Katya and install them. Check the installed version first though as no point updating if you already have that version.

If none of that works you will need to provide more information about your hard drive partitions and file systems and what exactly you are choosing in the installer.

Hi remoulder,

thanks for your reply.
Yes, I think it's the installer the only problem. When it occours, I can't kill it because the system is totally freezed. I'll try the new installer (if any) and let you know.

I've already the latest version of ubiquity.
I repeat the installation with debug activated (-d), and this is the result:

can you help me? Thank you very much!

Problem solved with "acpi=off" at live cd boot (boot=casper acpi=off)
