Just did and install to a USB drive from the live CD. I did not install any Grub, it installed itself over my PC grub last time I tried this.

Now , with the system apparently sucessfully installed to the USB drive, it will not boot.

I get an error message that says "No boot device found" press a key ..

I shouldn't need Grub should I ? Wouldn't the installer make the drive bootable?

This is not a flash drive- it is a USB hard drive.
