Even if you've managed to boot the live CD I think it's a bad CD
Have you checked the md5sum and burned slowly?
In Windows you need to install some third party program to check md5.
Google for it and remember it's for the entire ISO that the sum is to be calculated
Oh - the chipset is good to know
