Downloaded linuxmint-12-gnome-dvd-32bit.iso and tried to boot.
Saw Loading messages for /casper/vmlinuz and /casper/initrd.lz on ascii screen, got "Ready" here. Nothing further, no matter how long I wait.
The same disk (real disk, not iso image) works fine for VirtualBox VM on the same host, so, I gues, neither CD ROM nor CD itself is to blame.

Try update the BIOS from Intel Download Center.
There was some improvements in 2006/2007.
