OK I had this problem with Daryna Gnome 4 hd install which eventually crashed in a big way so I installed Daryna KDE 4 044 beta which has been working fine ( more or less) untill now.
here is /var/log/fsck/checkfs
Log of fsck -C -R -A -a
Thu Jan 31 11:29:37 2008
fsck 1.40.2 (12-Jul-2007)
fwire-data has been mounted 35 times without being checked, check forced.
/dev/hda3: clean, 121949/9420800 files, 14875283/18824163 blocks
/dev/hda4: clean, 36627/9420800 files, 14821801/18828180 blocks
then system hangs when it should be checking /hdb ( 4 partitions - ntfs,ext3,ntfs,ext3).
As Mint Daryna KDE 4 044 beta "sees" the ntfs partitions but wont mount them , giving a message such as "hal-storage-fixed-mount refused uid 1000" I'm assuming that fsck is hanging whilst trying to access /hdb1 (ntfs).
I have posted in this forum earlier re similar HD problems before my Mint Gnome 4 installation crashed, but with no luck resolving problem which apparently has something to do with installing HDs from another PC, even though username and passwords are the same. I've done this before with other installations/distros without problems.
Help please
