Live CD Hangs at 86.933534 squashfs

I'm trying to put Linux Mint on a spare hard drive on my dad's pc to ween him off of XP. Every time I do the noacpi and noapic on the start-up deal but every time it hangs on the line that says:
86.933534 squashfs [and then something about ubuntu and phillip lougher]
Then it just gives me a flashing cursor on the line below and doesn't do anything. What am I doing wrong?

OK, after letting it sit for several minutes it finally unhung and gave me a bunch of errors like "squashfs unable to read..."

I've had the same exact problem with 2 linux distros and live discs, mint gnome & xfce 4.0, i'm thinking its an error somewhere in how the iso was burned

Probably. It has given to me the same error using other distros, and when I checked the md5 hash I saw it was different the one provided by the distro team and the iso I downloaded. That shows me the importance of the md5 check before burning! So try and see if the md5 match. If they don't match, maybe the CD is damage, are you using a CD-RW used heavily before?
