Minimal installer, Full install

Postby tehalynn on Thu Mar 22, 2012 10:01 pm

In the interest of saving a cd/dvd, is there a minimal installer that downloads software after installing, but still does a full install?

Ideally it would be mostly automated, because I don't have that much experience with linux.

i dont understand your question :? .
For installer that downloads software after installing you reference to a web-installer? (online installation, that you donwload an small program ("minimal installer") and then it configure your pc and donwload the full program especifically for your pc config.
What its the relationship with saving CD/DVDs ( or burning CDs or making an iso) ?¿

Mint does not have a netinstall version, only full disc versions are provided.

You can of course download the linuxmint-12-gnome-cd-nocodecs-32bit.iso which has no office or codecs install that and then tell it to download to a full dvd install.

Thanks, everyone. That answers my question.

Are there any plans for a future netinstall version?

First: sorry, my english is weak. But, I have a big problem with Lisa gnome. It's doesn't work. I wrote that to my pendrive with unetbootin, and the gnome desktop was just a rubbish after the live start. No icons, no panel, rubbish mixed pixels and lines, and maybe two and a half icon on the screen. This way I couldn't try it and the installation not possible. It's I think so a problem with my nvidia card. I saw similar in debian wheezy with gnome shell. That was good after the intall of the nvidia-driver. But It doesn't work in Lisa, because this way I cannot install it. Without live desktop. Can I install Lisa any way ? Maybe text install or I have no idea. I need to round somehow the gnome-desktop problem. I hope that you can understand my question. Thanks.

ps.: If it isn't possible can I do that I'll intall Mint 11 gnome-cd and after this intallation I will do a distro upgrade. Is it possible, or only my bad idea ?
