Linux Mint Laptop Boot no visuals

I've never had boot troubles with Linux Mint before, now trying the latest Mint 12 (Lisa) 64bit live DVD on my HP DM4 I get no graphics after the boot screen. Any suggestions?

My daughter has the same laptop. Hers has a switchable graphics card. Well anyway, have you tried tapping (usually just one tap) on the screen brightening button. I believe it is the F3 button.

I thought that I would post this very easy fix that I just found on the Ubuntu forum for 12.04. It also works on my daughter's HP dv4t-5100
Much better than pressing a function key at boot up.
