lost tomboy notes

Postby teks on Tue Apr 24, 2012 7:09 pm

I have an asus 1101, and it has trouble shutting down, and suspending sometimes, which forces me to do a hard shutdown. Tomboy notes absolutely hates this, and at the end of every semester I seem to lose a random valuable note completely.
This time I had the thing set to backup to ubuntu one every half hour. The note can't be found on ubuntu one or my computer. This is disturbing stuff. Is there any way to find this note using recovery software? and what the heck can I do to stop tomboy from deleting my notes?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

alright I'll check it out. Im the meantime I'm testing out Vim. While I was looking up information I overheard that tomboy is rather memory intensive, and thats always a consern on a netbook.

I really appreciate it I'll let you know if I have any luck

I recently switched from tomboy to a app called CherryTree. it is cross platform and will import your tomboy notes. It stores your data in one file. I save this to my DropBox and open it from multiple machines. Tomboy is base on the Mono project which i heard is no longer being developed.

The instructions suggested Microsoft Vista or better, so I installed Linux.

Sounds good. Didn't used to have this problem with tomboy. It has a backup directory. It just doesn't seem to work. This is the fourth time I had this problem, that can't fly. Cherry tree looks pretty cool. I like having hierarchy's, and my biggest concern is speed. Thanks for the tip

Oh yeah, photorec is amazing.
