Text file gets messed up after opening in gedit

Postby vertimyst on Mon Mar 03, 2008 3:02 pm

Hi,

I dual-boot Mint and WinXP. More recently, I've been doing more in XP than Mint, due to certain applications I need, so I've just been accessing my Linux file system within Windows.

I've noticed that every time I open a text file in Notepad (WinXP) that has been opened in gedit, the file's all messed up. Everything in it is all strung together in a single line, separated by a odd square character.

Does anyone know why this is happening? Does gedit use a different format than notepad? Is there a way to fix it?

Thanks in advance,

-Vert

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Thanks. I also noticed I can use a notepad replacement like Notepad++ (which I like better than notepad anyway).
