Main Edition Menu problem

Postby PinStripe on Sat Apr 28, 2012 10:52 pm

I just installed Mint 12 main edition (gnome, I believe) and find that every time I go to click on the menu
button in the left of the task bar, the whole screen clears and goes white, then the Mint background
comes back and everything else right after it. This all happens within a 3 second period.

I have used Mint before and never had this problem. It's like every time I install this OS, there is a
different problem!

Anyway... how can I clear this issue up?

Any help will be appreciated!

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

From the login screen, click on the little gearwheel icon in the top right of the login box. Choose MATE as the desktop session to run (and remember what the current desktop session select is, so you can change back to that on next login). Do you have the same issue when you run MATE?

You may also try installing Cinnamon as an alternative (and again select that from the login screen).

Have you installed all available updates from the Update Manager?

If problem persists, please include the output of the following command run from the terminal. Probably there is a problem with your graphics card driver.
Code: Select all
inxi -SGxc 0

Hey Thanks! I switched to MATE and all is well. I think I will stay there as I do like the menu set up better.
