Chromium, Flash and Linux 12

Postby beesontoast on Fri May 04, 2012 6:51 am

Having wasted all morning trying to get Chromium to perform properly under Mint 12 and utterly failing to make Flash work at all, despite attempting to follow the useless on-screen instructions, I am beginning to wonder why I left Windows 7...

I had to delete the Chromium folder within .config to stop it going full screen with no controls (BTW - Alt F4 will crash you out if you get this problem) - this is the first time I have had a problem installing Chrom(ium) under any Linux OS - which means that someone, somewhere managed to create a problem either in the Mint update or in Chromium itself where none existed before, which is sloppy - to put it mildly.

Can anyone PLEASE tell me - preferbly in plain English - how the heck to get Flash working properly in Chromium, before I lose what remains of my hair?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I figured it out myself in the end, as nobody else seems to have - or doesn't care enough to post the answer.

What you do is ignore the rubbish from Adobe that says Chrome users don't need to upgrade Flash (oh really?) and take your butt to the Software Manager and do a seach for 'adobe-flashplugin'. Install that, problem gone.

And you apparently don't care enough to give your method or process that got flash working in Mint 12 + Cinnamon + Chromium (browser)

Maybe the lack of response had to do with the antagonistic question/interrogation of the other Linux OS users on this site
Why I ever left windows 7.. is anybody's guess
