Avant window navigator problem

Postby ttgump on Fri May 11, 2012 3:19 am

Hi everybody:
I am using linux mint 12 Lisa with Cinnemon desktop and installed all updates. I download avant window navigator and install it from software manager, but it only runs successfully once. Now I can't start it. When I type avant-window-navigator in terminal, it will say like that:
(avant-window-navigator:3201): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_key_file_load_from_data: assertion `length != 0' failed

** ERROR **: awn-app.vala:87: Unable to retrieve panels config value: Key file does not have group 'panels'
Trace/breakpoint trap
How to repair this problem? Thank you very much!

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=85460 might be useful but am not sure if AWM works with Cinnamon.

I can run awn in my administrator account but can't run it in other account. What is the problem?

Yes, AWN can be launched with sudo or in a guest session, yet awn-settings return more errors and fail to start.
This helped me:
https://answers.launchpad.net/awn/+question/101984
Briefly,
1) Quit Awn, navigate to ~/.config/desktop-agnostic/ and delete all files inside.
2) Install libdesktop-agnostic-cfg-gconf and remove libdesktop-agnostic-cfg-keyfile
(only this order, otherwise AWN would be removed as well because of dependencies)

Linux Mint Lisa, AWN 0.4.1 (last version from Ubuntu repos)
