Firefox, Opera, Chrome redirect problem Mint 10

Postby andy1m on Fri May 11, 2012 10:40 am

I have been searching for Google redirect problem but yet to find an answer. Everytime I type anything into the search bar it will redirect to Google Canada, but only the site, not searching for anything.

If I delete the .Mozilla it will return to normal with all the add-on gone. But the problem return in just awhile.

Anybody know how to solve this problem, thks!

The redirection is done by google not the browser.

Thks for the answer. But I dont understand why Google wants to make it that way. I have been using Mint for years now, if this problem cant be solved. I dont think can find a better distro.

Re: googe redirect problem - Use This Plugin

Postby Richie2010 on Wed May 16, 2012 8:17 pm

I spent weeks on this issue too. Its not just mint10 - it occurs on any OS your using. Google thinks they know best and will only serve us the country that relates to your IP.

Anyway - i finally found a plugin at firefox that changes the default to what ever i want. AND if i want to search on google Canada, AU, UK, Ireland etc. I just use the plugin and it will fire off the same search you just did but will show the results in the country you selected.

Its called "Google Global Options"

Hope this helps. Now i need to ask how on earth to upgrade to firefox 12 - i too am using Mint10 and its not showing up in the mint update panel. FF11 did but been waiting for FF12 to showup
