0% volume at VLC startup

Postby ALTN on Sat May 12, 2012 1:44 pm

Hello,

I am using Linux Mint 12 KDE; Whenever I open VLC the sound is by default set to 0%, which forces me to set the volume up at every startup; It may not seem a big problem, but its annoying !

Anyone faced this before - any ideas how to fixe it ?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

It won't be VLC, instead it is more likely to be the default volume/audio player for that desktop

Try Alsamix or kmix, or any startup volume/audio managers (pulseaudio ?)

I don't know if volume control is available in the KDE control panel, it used to be..

One-stop shopping. Everyone likes that. The KDE Control Center makes configuring and customizing your desktop one-stop shopping.

If none of the above checking or some other poster alerts you to a fix, there is always pavuciontrol (pulse audio volume control); it may not be necessary and could cause more complications with audio management..

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Actually it is due to VLC, I went to preferences-> Audio -> in front of "Always reset audio start level" it was set to 167% (apparently it wasn't saved) i changed it to 150% -> save -> and now everything is ok.

I don't know why i didn't thought about doing this before posting, but as soon as I read "it won't be VLC", I immediately tried it :p, and fortunately it worked without having to dig in all those links.

Thank you again

Cheers
Ahmed
