[Solved] Alternative to XBMC?

Postby WhatUsernameIsFree? on Sun May 20, 2012 1:18 pm

Hi all,

I've just set up a new computer as my media center hooked up to my TV downstairs. I have previously used XBMC with good results, however it won't work with this new computer. It just crashes every time I play a video.

Can anyone recommend me an alternative, preferably with an Android remote control and laptop remote control.

Thanks

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

The answer to this question depends on what features you are looking for

You can try:

GeeXbox
Boxee
Elisa
Entertainer
Canola

Although I am not sure about their remote support. It has been at least 2 years since I have used Boxee or Elisa, the others I have not used at all

Just to update this, I found a free app for my Android device which controls VLC remotely, so alas, I've found what appears to be the perfect solution!
