I also had same problem, though it worked ok previously with defaults in Mint 12. I tried all different virtualbox settings to no success. It finally worked for me, set on default NAT settings, only after manual config of network settings on Windows 7 (Vbox). First, note the IP address and DNS address of the Windows machine (Vbox). the network, including internet access now works!
I guess its a DHCP issue between Mint 13 and Virtualbox.
