Printer configuration

Postby toml2 on Mon May 21, 2012 11:23 pm

I installed Linux Mint 13 Cinnamon which worked beautifully but the printer settings are not accessible and cannot be changed, printer properties is not an option.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

If you go to Menu > Preferences > Printers you will open up the Printers module of the new gnome-contol-center. It doesn't do much because the Gnome3 developers haven't gotten that far in class yet.

If however you run the following command:
Code: Select all
system-config-printer

Then you will open up the old printer configuration utility written by the Gnome2 developers before they were all fired. That should get you to a Properties option.

There's a good chance that I have misunderstood your description of the problem in which case I have wasted a perfectly good rant for nothing :)
Please add a [SOLVED] at the end of your original subject header if your question has been answered and solved.

No you didn't waste a good rant, I feel the same, I ran into the same problem with the latest version of LMDE and, thankfully, I wrote the code down. It's a good workaround but not a solution. The" Mate" version of Mint 13 doesn't have this issue.
