There can be two separate errors or rather bugs here
For some reason in some systems not all applications gets name resolution
I think this could be the cause for the first error even if I get a bit suspicious about the IP of 1.0.0.0

In the medibuntu case I get a 404 but you have an IPv6 address....
IPv6 is shut off in Mint and I don't get IPv6 for it
Take a look in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist and check so IPv6 is blacklisted
If you continue to get this strange behavior you could try to stop the blacklisting
and put a # in front of the line blacklisting IPv6
